The current zero rated threshold for Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) affecting residential property purchases up to £500,000 comes to an end on 30 June 2021.
In July, August and September, the zero rated threshold will be reduced to £250,000 returning to £125,000 from 1 October 2021.
For clients looking to purchase property over £250,000 we can give no assurances that completion will take place by 30 June 2021. Therefore, we would recommend you budget for SDLT and not to instruct SHL Solicitors if you are only able to proceed if completion is achieved by 30 June 2021. SHL Solicitors cannot guarantee completion by 30 June 2021.
